Starting in 867, you manage a small territory and gradually rise from duke to king and eventually emperor. The map spans Europe, the Nordic region, and Burma, and your goal is to keep your bloodline in power.
The mechanics revolve around the characters. Everyone has their own traits, ambitions, and stress, and when a decision goes against their nature, they can suffer a mental breakdown.
In terms of gameplay, this feels very similar to Europa Universalis V or Victoria 3, both Paradox grand strategy games spanning centuries. It has a very steep learning curve for new players.
